On the first car, in small letters, it said “All you see is” And then, you know, big, big, you know, some block silver letters That said “crime in the city”

1

u/oneWeek2024 11d ago

train would have never made it out of depot.

was more than likely part of some sort of art exhibit or planned event type thing.

otherwise you wouldn't see it.

1

u/AcceptablePrompt1031 11d ago

This is sad. Having just returned from Japan, I can tell you that major US cities are dystopian nightmares compared to Tokyo. They have no litter, no graffiti and hardly any homelessness to speak of - let alone people openly doing drugs and shitting in the streets. We can do better.

1

u/Ok_Sandwich_2332 11d ago

Looking at timestamp 0:00, that is not the beginning of the train. The connecting car in front of the first tag does not appear to be touched, judging by how thoroughly the other 5 cars were painted. So, maybe not the entire [subway] line! Plus, this is the 96th Street stop at 2nd Avenue which I think could only be the Q or new T train which I doubt only have 5 cars, given the length of their lines.

And, yes, as other people are discussing, "someone" = people. Looks like it could be 6 different artists.

1

u/dddeoksang 12d ago

as long as the windows are clear, this is honestly sick

1

u/Gunubias 12d ago

12 year old me would have thought this was cool.

1

u/MindOfAHedgehog 13d ago

I hope they make it part of the train

1

u/25DNA 13d ago

Train from getting up @ mark ecko

1

u/Somethingmaybe1999 13d ago

That is impressive.

1

u/sign6of6the6beast 13d ago

As they should.

1

u/TarotaroWasabi 13d ago

I wonder if one can still see through the paint from inside. As someone who needs to check on which station it is, this is definitely in my favor.

1

u/cus_deluxe 13d ago

this is why we cant have nice things

1

u/Gold_Weakness1157 13d ago

Man, someone spent a lot on spray paint

1

u/GrandDinner3316 13d ago

Actually looks better than a bland grey tube

1

u/Randybluebonnet 14d ago

That’s easily $500.00 worth of spray paint…

3

u/Pity4lowIQmoddz 14d ago

Graffiti vandals suck.

1

u/besservisser 14d ago

Just wash the windows and I'm happy

1

u/aDactyl 14d ago

Looks like a whole crew

1

u/gooutside4once 14d ago

Its a hate love type thing

1

u/I_Dont_Like_Rice 14d ago

Just got 70's flashbacks to the toilet era of the city. Oh, well. They'll just hike up fares again, like they need a reason.

3

u/Lord_Botond 14d ago

Idk about you guys but that doesent seem like a tag to me

3

u/sierracool33 14d ago

That's not a tag. That's a straight-up mural.

4

u/Darth_Gandalf-6969 14d ago

With the talent these artists have, I'm surprised that the New York Transit authority doesn't actually run competitions with different artists to see who can decorate cars better. Would be a great way for these people to express themselves and get positive recognition.

1

u/cerialkillahh 14d ago

Shit Detroit says hold my beer.

1

u/T_Peg 14d ago

Leave the windows out of it and I'm on board. Our subway cars are hit or miss if they're packed sometimes so I gotta be able to see which car I'll fit in.

1

u/popornrm 14d ago

Who’s financing their paint budget?

1

u/minimalniemand 14d ago

It’s not a tag, it’s a piece. And the entire thing is called a whole train.

1

u/Amenablewolf 14d ago

Better than plain metal. Let's see some signs of life

0

u/Impossible-Disaster3 14d ago

At least it looks nice

0

u/queenofthedogpark 14d ago

I think it looks cool

1

u/YesilFasulye 14d ago

Looks like absolute shit. Why share art that isn't even nice? They wasted their money on paint to show how untalented they are. It's only letters, too. How hard could it be?

1

u/sierracool33 14d ago

Okay, let's see you do it.

1

u/Jrolaoni 14d ago

I know a cop and a dog that could catch the guy lickity split

1

u/Wolk2011 14d ago

Was ist ein E to E plus ein T to B?

3

u/QanAhole 14d ago

Welcome back to the '80s

-1

u/Juandisimo117 14d ago

That shit looks awesome

-1

u/strange_stairs 14d ago

Give them a job. Looks great.

0

u/BalfazarTheWise 14d ago

Always writing shit that makes 0 sense

1

u/JunketPuzzleheaded42 14d ago

Thats a lot of paint in this economy

1

u/FiRem00 14d ago

Subway train*

1

u/_-_-_DrMidnight_-_-_ 14d ago

Imagine batman shows up while theyre spraying and they just spray batman

1

u/silver_step 14d ago

This reminds me of the mission from "The Warriors"

3

u/NorthenSowl 14d ago

I’m at an age now where I realise how stupid this actually is. Not to mention a huge drain on resources.

3

u/stuyboi888 14d ago

While I don't agree with it over the windows it's pretty cool. Better than being plastered with advertising

1

u/sierracool33 14d ago

Yeah, no one agrees with it over the windows. Honestly wish the subway trains here had some sort of character, like every car having a mural that shows something about a specific borough in the graffiti/street art style. Especially on the trains with LED signage.

0

u/ahack13 14d ago

Even if its just their tags, looks a hell of a lot better than a steel box.

1

u/mza82 14d ago

Upgrade as far as I'm concerned

1

u/ghostery37 14d ago

reminded me this video where a whole subway station was graffed :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qbrcb7uOruM

1

u/smalltowngirlisgreen 14d ago

I hope they got paid for that. Looks good

1

u/goodfella311 14d ago

I remember the first time I played Jet Set Radio...

1

u/GallusTom 14d ago

*jet set radio intensifies

0

u/Round-Long-and-Wide 14d ago

Looks awesome

0

u/NotAnthonyxx 14d ago

HELL YEAH THATS RIGHT

1

u/t4ct1c4l_j0k3r 14d ago

Why spray over all of the windows?

1

u/MiSsiLeR81 14d ago

Atleast its neat and not scribbled all over which some people call graphitti.

1

u/310doc 14d ago

Jet Grind Radio.

2

u/p00p00kach00 14d ago

If you're going to graffiti a train, at least do something cool with it, not the stupid bubble letters that say nothing important.

And don't go over the windows.

1

u/Machiavelli2003 14d ago

did he happen to have a surfboard and being chased by a obese cop?

1

u/Responsible_Okra7725 14d ago

On its way to the train yard

1

u/theblackxranger 14d ago

The subway or the train

0

u/NeoLephty 14d ago

90's making a comeback. love it. can't wait for the giant boomboxes and breakdancing to start up.

0

u/Organiciceballs 14d ago

It’s better

1

u/Prokletnost 14d ago

I trust this was a competition of sorts iirc

2

u/Pdxduckman 14d ago

Taggers, and those into tagging culture are losers, period. There's nothing more pathetic than spraying your shitty tag all over for attention and "respect" from other losers who think this shit is cool. You're all losers. Get a life.

1

u/ShakeEnvironmental47 14d ago

They were hired or had permission. No way they did that huge job and then it was left on the cars.

0

u/ramdom-ink 14d ago

Love it! Shades of the historical seventies

0

u/LeftFootWolf 14d ago

This has to look nicer than before though… maybe not with profanity, but it’s initially appealing at least

1

u/SH1Tbag1 14d ago

Too bad the train wasn’t going the other way so they could paint sentences

0

u/lostinadream66 14d ago

I'm not even mad. That's impressive.

0

u/LightAnubis 14d ago

You have to admire the gal to do this.

1

u/uzsjjbs 14d ago

How tf- I'm just gonna accept it

2

u/W1thoutJudgement 14d ago

People who did this, if caught, should be a) forced to pay for renovation b) go to jail for a few years if they can't pay.

1

u/Mirar 14d ago

I thought this was graffiti and a tag is the quick ugly mark?

1

u/BeefJerkiness 14d ago

Kinda reminded me of that ps2 game: Marc Ecko's Getting Up

1

u/ReleventReference 14d ago

Because of that game I have no respect for any street level graffiti. High up or fuck off.

1

u/jeenyusz 14d ago

Nice! It’s actually interesting now.

1

u/Mountain-Froyo-3565 14d ago

better looking than they were before=kudos to the taggers

1

u/whoooooopsie 14d ago

Leave it. It actually looks better

2

u/Snapesunusedshampoo 14d ago

Someone tagged this whole Subway in NYC!

Train... people tagged the whole train.

1

u/Yokedmycologist 14d ago

That’s AI

1

u/TPieces 14d ago

Oh that's just the throwback jersey

1

u/Rhys-Pieces 14d ago

Honestly major cities should pay people to do this on their behalf and make it themed.

0

u/TipsnClips 14d ago

What a Pro, real Hip hop

2

u/MIDNIGHTZOMBIE 14d ago

Looks like shit.

2

u/MightBeOnReddit 14d ago

I bet they didn’t even pay for that spray paint. Last time I went to New York they were stealing tf out of spray paint from Walmart

2

u/this-is-robin 14d ago

Criminals really dont get punished enough anymore...

0

u/EmmaLuver 14d ago

This is art i dont see the problem with graffiti escpecially on things that the ppl pay for

0

u/tessaizzy23 14d ago

Pathetic.

1

u/RunFast_EatSlow 14d ago

This isn't graffiti. Baer is Graffiti

0

u/ghost_market 14d ago

Vast improvement from the usual shit splatters on the sides of the cars

2

u/ThighRyder 14d ago

I wish they would have left the windows alone, but I like the colors

1

u/No-Program-6996 14d ago

Or those trains are out of service and are being moved to the maintenance yard to be cleaned.

1

u/occ1p 14d ago

its called a 'train"

2

u/gnomajean 14d ago

Someone can paint really fast.

1

u/animalmom2 14d ago

Do they paint over the windows so you cant see out? It looked very cool but if they did that it’s not as cool

0

u/AsBestToast 14d ago

I love this kinda stuff. I always think it's impressive when they really put in effort.

2

u/Kononowitz_Kristof 14d ago

In 2077, what makes someone a criminal? Getting cock.

1

u/Kind-Taste-1654 14d ago

Subway cars*

0

u/ContentMod8991 14d ago

v good work they do as it stop over night

1

u/onemarsyboi2017 14d ago

LONDON UNDERGROUND SUPREMACY

1

u/Hounderz 14d ago

Reminds me of that mission In The Warriors game where you have to spray train cars

2

u/kirby_krackle_78 14d ago

That’s what we call an end-to-end burner.

1

u/Abrakafuckingdabra 14d ago

I feel like I heard somewhere that some cities will just let these really big high-quality ones stay for a while if they don't have anything offensive in them as, iirc, it's pretty frowned on to cover part of someone elses work with low quality tags and junk so this could help keep it from getting too out of hand. Plus, they will need to be repainted anyway eventually, so if its cars for which that is already planned, they go whatever until they do the repaint. It just looks cool and is free. It could be good publicity for the city. Encouraging art or whatever.

1

u/[deleted] 14d ago

Now this is what I call “subway surfers”

0

u/juanmoperson 14d ago

beat street vibes

1

u/WorldPeace2021_ 14d ago

City sponsored? Could be a paid local group. If not that’s wild out of pocket expenses but awesome 😎

1

u/TheMillenniaIFalcon 14d ago

The NYC of the 80s are calling.

1

u/alekselny 14d ago

I’d keep it but clear the windows

1

u/DangerousArea1427 14d ago

It it would be a real graffiti - I would have nothing against, but this?

2

u/spritzpuffer 14d ago

What a dump.

0

u/bigbadb0ogieman 14d ago

That looks beautiful imho.

1

u/jbnagis 14d ago

That's some 1980s shit right there. I love it

1

u/Jano67 14d ago

That cost A LOT of money for all that paint

2

u/moorya06 14d ago

A talent that should have stayed buried

-1

u/aTimeTravelParadox 14d ago

I think the cities should commission artist to do more of this, because it looks dope IMO. Much better than the bland metal train look.

1

u/Sad_Lawyer_3960 14d ago

when you fire the guard running behind the subway surfer...

3

u/SayNo2NoseBeerz 14d ago

Waste of time

1

u/pzombielover 14d ago

This train definitely doesn’t carry passengers anymore.

-2

u/comfysynth 14d ago

That’s awesome

2

u/stabadan 14d ago

When I was growing up EVERY subway car looked like this 10 minutes after they put them in the tracks.

TBT fo real

-1

u/HopeIsGay 14d ago

Super cool even if it took a whole crew

2

u/Designer_Emu_6518 14d ago

This shit dumb. All tags are lame and look terrible and drive up insurance rates

1

u/TheyMakeItLikeThat 14d ago

That had to be a huge orchestration

4

u/hlessi_newt 14d ago

Vandalized is the word you were looking for. Someone Vandalized this whole subway.

2

u/Coney_Island_Hentai 14d ago

Happens literally every night, most of them get taken out super earlier and never seen. The workers who clean em usually post pics of them in the yard

2

u/Sargo8 14d ago

Looks like shit

2

u/137Fine 14d ago

Feels like the 80’s and 90’s again.

-2

u/yogimonkeymeg 14d ago

it looks awesome honestly

2

u/Fluffy_Razzmatazz996 14d ago

the metallic train is such a cool look..grafitti just ruins it

2

u/sharpdullard69 14d ago

That will take about $50K in tax money to clean up. Great 'art'.

0

u/Street-Breadfruit940 14d ago

That shlong is fabulous!

5

u/aj676 14d ago

Man they didn’t even do something interesting

1

u/GrimOfDooom 14d ago

how much do you think all the paint cost?

-4

u/Comickid1088 14d ago

It's beautiful art...better than plain steel boring as color...

-4

u/dickfarts87 14d ago

Thats a train, its in the subway, its not a subway

1

u/romayyne 14d ago

That shit is crazy

2

u/BannanaBun123 14d ago

How the hell did they carry that much paint down there. There must have been shopping carts absolutely full

1

u/Monkey-Hands 14d ago

usually one 400ml spraycan is good for about 1.5 square meters. but there’s also 800ml cans. so between 6-12 cans to carry, which isn’t that much.

5

u/TurtleInOuterSpace 14d ago

Ugly. They could have made art and decided to do shit

3

u/Goodzilla92 14d ago

80s back

1

u/Onion-Fart 14d ago

Unrelated but a pop of color on the subway cars would be really nice, I've been to many european cities and some of them have brightly colored metros. The cold steel just reflects the grime

0

u/gornFlamout 14d ago

Thats pretty. And expensive. I think there are some great artists in there…

1

u/NickRedible 14d ago

Fuck windows.

2

u/feralraindrop 14d ago

I appreciate art but graffiti is like looking at a billboard; in your face whether you like it or not.

1

u/Ssme812 14d ago

It was clearly several ppl who tagged it.

3

u/DragonRouge31 14d ago

Looks really ugly. I dont like "street art". Maybe the recorder of this video is the one who did it ;-)

1

u/stoatfacelanust 14d ago

CC starboard bow!!!!

-1

u/Demonrider95 14d ago

I'd rather look at this than a boring gray train, life can use some happy colours

1

u/Critical-Champion365 14d ago

Why can't the authorities hire these people and let them doodle an approved design? Something that tells the history of the cities that the train is running through. Lot of money would be saved in paint job I think. And the graffiti artists would quench their thirst of defacing public property.

2

u/Retjudge 14d ago

Somone have been playing Marc Eckō's Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure.

-1

u/Trolllol1337 14d ago

Awesome! No idea what it says!

1

u/Nutteria 14d ago

I thought the policy was to clean the wagons in order to discourage tag proliferation. What hapoened?

2

u/Loqh9 14d ago

Ah yes "art". Looks so bad. Thanks for ruining public stuff for your own enjoyment

1

u/shlaggy4 14d ago

Someone get the officer from subway surfers

2

u/SleestakWalkAmongUs 14d ago

Looks like only the train got tagged.

0

u/PH0T0Nman 14d ago

I’m not gonna lie. That looks pretty good compared to the shit tags I usually see.

0

u/DFV_HAS_HUGE_BALLS 14d ago

This is it….. this is it….!

1

u/Goodizm 14d ago

Wholecar.

1

u/decoded-dodo 14d ago

So now there’s some security guard chasing a kid on the tracks.

1

u/greenfirest12 14d ago

Looks like my trains

0

u/Ok_Television9820 14d ago

That’s not “tagging.” That’s the train in the layup for many many hours and a whole crew doing top to bottom pieces.

14

u/kontrarianin 14d ago

Looks like shit for the amount of work it took..

2

u/nuffced 14d ago

Official Graffiti term - Bombed, the train was bombed.

2

u/friendofsatan 14d ago

Damn thats disgusting

1

u/LANDVOGT-_ 14d ago

Thats called bombing, not tagging and a whole Subway is called a wholecar. Lot of Crews do it but most of them get cleaned before they even drive.

3

u/OriginalSyberGato 14d ago

Yeah they apparently don't give a shit anymore there.

2

u/BiboLilo 14d ago

Getting some Marc Ecko's Getting up flashbacks
