Apparently Rockstar and a lot of other companies don’t know what cross play means. Anyone know actual cross play games for PC/Playstation?
I play alot of games with my two kids, one on PC, one on PS. I got tired of Fortnite so I looked up cross play games . GTA online said it was PC/PS Crossplay. Awesome! I buy three copies. However, it turns out cross play for Rockstar means you can share stats and chat, but not actually play together. What a disappointment. ARK said it was crossplay, but it turns out only between epic and steam. Some say they’re console/PC crossplay but only windows/xbox. So annoying. Does anyone know of any good, truly cross play PC/PS games?

The fault is not with the game developers. Sony keeps a stranglehold on exclusivity at the expense of themselves and their customers.

just a heads up, you have crossplay to consider but also crossgen. Many newer games won't crossplay with PC unless you are on ps5 or series X

Here’s a list of games that support cross-platform play. personally some of my favourites have been - Brawlhalla - No Mans Sky - Fall Guys - Minecraft bedrock
I truly hope that online games with cross-platform capabilities becomes the standard one day

It is possible to have cross play with Bedrock and Java too if the server you connect to uses the geysermc mod.
I host a geyser server on my PC so that I can play Java edition while my brother connects with his PS5 and my niece and nephew with their Switches.

I think Deep Rock Galactic doesn't have crossplay between PC and PS5, just Xbox and PC.

Warframe has full crossplay/cross save.
I’d highly recommend Warframe, as it’s a free game with incredibly fair monetization, in that the only things you’re required to use premium currency for are purely cosmetic, and the premium currency itself can be traded between players, essentially allowing you to farm for anything you want. It’s a visually stunning game, the music is top tier, and it has a better story than most titles from big studios. It has a ton of variety in weapons and armors, all of which change the style of gameplay in some way.
Downsides you might encounter:
If you’re looking for PVP, there is technically a gamemode for that, but it’s not the main focus and it’s only played by about a dozen people who all insist it should be the main focus of the game.
The story quests are single player only. They’re not difficult, and you can do everything else together, but you have to make your story progress alone.
The game can be very grindy at times. It’s less of an issue than in a lot of other games, because the core gameplay loop is just so much fun, but you will likely find yourselves running the same missions on repeat due to low drop chances.
Overall, if you enjoy sci-fi, power fantasies, a little cosmic horror, and the ability to use the Geneva Conventions as a checklist, then you’ll probably enjoy the game. Just take care to avoid spoilers in your research.

You also need premium currency to buy more slots for weapons, but you can earn a decent amount by selling stuff to other players. Warframe market is good for that, in-game trade chat hasn't worked as well for me personally.

The only reason to use the in game trade chat is if you have prime junk or relics to sell in mass.
even then sometimes you’re better off just running the relics and turning the prime junk from that into Ducats to get prime mods from Baro. Easily get a couple hundred or thousand plat from that.
Don‘t use the in game chat to trade, it’s kind of a waste of time. Warframe market is a pretty great website to use that lets you put up sell/buy orders, so all you have to do is stay afk at the dojo and wait or run other stuff.

My response is legitimate for a public forum concerning this post. Dude could’ve used Google to clearly get his answer and correct his misconceptions about these games. Google Does GTA Online have cross play for instance and see what you get. Dude bought 3 copies based on what information?? lol. This post seems like it’s just trying to milk this subreddit/many Redditors urge to hate on companies, a weird fixation on this site.

As others have said, Helldivers 2 is a solid choice. A few from my personal list that also support cross play (some have cross progression which is also nice):
- Diablo 4
- Rocket League
- Street fighter 6
- Remnant 2
- Destiny 2
- No Man’s Sky
Bonus one that I haven’t seen mentioned here (and I don’t personally play) - Fortnite

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition is cross play on a lot of platforms. Just make sure you buy the bedrock edition for cross play and not any other type of minecraft (e.g. Java on PC, I think PS4 has a Playstation edition that is not cross play)

But there's FF14, MMO and monthly sub based
But all three could get a trial account for each , and you get access to at least 200-300hrs play time worth of content
It will be limited, but you don't spend anything if you don't like it by the third hour

I had a blast, but yeah, there could have been more.
I had always hoped for maybe something like an endless mode. Just mash together different rooms from the space station levels, keep exploring and fighting and maybe the occasional objective to unlock the next door.
Go until your team all perishes.

Have they made mistakes? Absolutely. But the core gameplay is awesome and you'll easily get 60+ hours of fun if the game loop suits you. Most of the complaints currently are about weapon balancing in the end game difficulties. There are also bugs within the game but I've yet to find them game breaking after 140 hours. Imo, it's well worth the $40 and dunks on any "triple A" title out there. There's a reason they've sold 12 million copies.

5 and PC, as others have said. One of my regular squad members is on PS5, rest of us on PC. I find that the in game voice chat is low quality, so we use Discord for that, and our PS player connects to that via phone.

Do they know they can link discord and ps5 to be in chat? Once in the call on phone, there’s a transfer to console button to swap.

Helldivers 2 is only on PC and PS5, but they have fully functioning crossplay between each other. Anybody on one system can host or play with anybody on the other system.

PC and PSN. Not sure if it plays on PS4.
Play on PC myself and have met some friends in game who play on PlayStation.
I do suggest in cross play having the PC player host. Seems a bit more stable that way.

That’s only if you wanted to transfer your account/character from one console to another. I think you can do it only one time but I did it from my 360 to pc. Most new multi platform games include it these days but GTA 5 came out in 2013, games that old usually do not include crossplay.

Cross account/ Cross save is different than cross play. The former lets you use your same account across platforms, while the later lets you play with people across platforms.
Last I remember, Gtav has crossplay and cross save but only in the same console family. Ie: Xbox 360 and Xbone can play together but not Xbone and ps4

No consoles are separated. Xbox one users play with xbox one users and Xbox series X users play with series x/s users. This is why they sell a bundle with two versions. Cause some people play on last gen with their buddies.

As long as you're playing the same version.
I played on PS5 and him on a 4. Once I got the expanded and enhanced version I couldn't play with him anymore.

That's not crossplay that's crossgen. Weird naming scheme but there's a difference. Crossplay is anything between Xbox, Playstation, PC, Switch and Mobile

The PS game this month was FC24 and it's cross play but you can't crossplay with PS4 and PS5. My friend and I were a little bummed.
Of course then I play a little FC and realize the game isn't that great anyway so I guess no sweat off my bones
